How We Know This

What's on the record

Everything above the roast line comes from Genuine Origin's documentation for lot GEN26IDC. We buy from them when we don't have our own relationship at origin, because they work directly with producers and name the farms behind a lot. Most of the trade won't.

What we can't tell you

We haven't been to Aceh Tengah, and we've never met Wagiman or Yasmin. This is a cooperative lot, so cherry from several small farms was pooled and graded together. We can't trace your bag to one hillside.

The Journey

Why we published this anyway: a shorter record doesn't make a lesser coffee. It makes a different one. Most of the world's coffee travels this way, through cooperatives and collectors and importers, and pretending otherwise would be the easy thing to do on a label. We'd rather show you the real chain, including the parts we didn't walk ourselves.
Coming soon: an independent, tamper-evident record of this lot published on a public blockchain, so you don't have to take our word for any of this.

When the bag runs low… You can have this exact coffee again, roasted the day you order it.
